Latest treasures

Here I'll try & keep you up-to-date with the latest pieces of genealogical info I have added to the blog.  If you don't understand any references/terms used - look up the page in the blog where all will be revealed in full.
Or just ask me!
  • Census data for Scotland from the year 2011 will finally be released & available through Scotlands People on 5th April 2011.  Cost 6 credits per image (30 credits costs £6, though that rises to £7 from April 1st 2011) - so that's the same as all the other census years in Scotland bar the 1881. (English data was & continues to be more expensive than older data sets, unless you take out membership of Find My Past). I have prepaid my credits for a few 1911 searches, and will be publishing what news I find of relevance to the Keay family shortly after April 5th. Possibly also a few Bracks!
  • New Census completed - 27th of March, 2011
  • Our lovely cousin got a well-deserved review of stellar quality - in The Oregonian, Sept 2010. (Sennett/Armitage)
  • Great snippet of info about Keturah's first husband, Percy (relevant to the Sennett family, with Thanks to Elliot). That page is getting far too bulky now, I'm working on splitting it up into 3 sections.
  • Also Probate information on Walter Armitage, Ewart Armitage, and on George Foster.
  • Some extra military information on Thomas Fitzpatrick.
  • I used the Free access to FindMyPast to download an image of the passenger lists to NewZealand for those emigrating in 1958.  Relevant to the Sennetts: here
  • Also using it to see many of the 1911 Census pages which I've been waiting for!  e.g Fitzpatricks in Tudhoe in 1911 including their eldest daughter Margaret in service in Durham and their other daughter Bridget in service near Crook; Sennetts in Byers Green in 1911.  Several Bracks (rest of the Scottish info won't become available till at least 2011).  Armitages & Fosters in Thorne, 1911.

  • "Inspiration to us all" - 90 year old goes white-water rafting on the Tay, March 2010.
  • Lovely page I've been shown about the life of a Handloom Weaver - relevant to the Keay branch.
  • Ooh Ooh! New photos of the Sennett family are arriving, which I'm delighted about. Page about James' siblings has been updated with the new information & photos.  Is it too big now?!?  Also new page to show information about Ann/Emily, James' mother.
  • Marriage cert for Keturah & Harry Sennett  - 1943, Wednesbury registry office.
  • Death cert for William Sennett 1903, Witton Park.
  • Articles from the Times - programme listings for the Radio, 1928-1932.  Harry Sennett, Tenor (Ask if you'd like copies).

March 2010 - Following a new availability (for me) to the database on BMD certificates in England from 1916 (previously I've relied on FreeBMD, which runs out in about 1920)...
I've found many pieces of info about when folk have died - although many of them have yet to be proved/confirmed.
  • and his second wife Ann Sennett - born 1866 - died 1946 Durham East, aged 80
  • and a great deal of info about his second partner, Keturah nee Treherne (turns out she changed her name by deed poll, and then married Harry in 1943, in Wednesbury.)

Edinburgh Gazette - articles about the Keay family; Bell & Keay partners, and solicitor David Keay.
    More to come!
